IMPROVING TALKS

What Software QA can learn from Manufacturing

Over the past century and a half, manufacturing industries have developed a wide range of processes and techniques to ensure products meet standards of quality, reliability, and interoperability. These approaches include identifying root causes, triaging and prioritizing, and driving persistent improvements. We'll explore how these techniques can be (and in some cases already have been!) adapted and applied to software engineering to improve and direct quality efforts. We'll examine the benefits and challenges of adopting a manufacturing quality mindset, and provide practical recommendations for how software engineering organizations can successfully integrate these practices into their development process.
