Improving’s approach to data enablement is different. Oftentimes, we find that the data engineering teams are given vague or incomplete business requirements, which puts the onus of delivering the right data on the engineering team. This leads to gaps in expected delivery, low data quality, slow progress, and unhappy data consumers. We believe data platform development is a collaborative effort that should tie back to business objectives and utilize the tools and methods best suited the need.

Deliverables

A data enablement project aims to build the foundation for your data platform, focused on specific business needs. The project follows a product discovery, design, and development strategy to implement a limited number of datasets that follow modern data engineering practices. At the end of the engagement, you'll have some initial tangible results and a foundation to build on. What is more the methodologies used can be scaled to the next phase of the data product roadmap.

During discovery we'll work to identify the business value/objectives and prioritize the data features that need to be developed first.

During design, activities are not limited to data architecture and pipeline design. Design includes a comprehensive mapping process that incorporates the business stakeholders, which ensures that the “right” data is delivered as part of the engagement. The initial solution architecture, data model, and high-level designs are developed before moving into development.

During development of the core value data assets are built, which includes frequent demos of the working products, interim training (if needed), and deployment of data, pipelines, and automation tooling.

As a part of the engagement, Improving can provide additional services like team integration for in-flight learning, class & workshops from skilled instructors, and hands-on mentoring with your team.

After the engagement, Improving can help identify challenges and improvements in the delivery process, build additional training and workshops on the delivered assets, and/or iterate on the roadmap with you.
