Java Developer is responsible for developing and enhancing software for custom applications and services.  This role requires experience in Java and other high-level languages, collaboration with a team of developers on both individual and group projects.  Team-oriented environment working on common goals of delivering high quality software. What you will be doing

 

  • Develop software utilizing the following technologies:

  • Java/Spring

  • Ruby/Rails

  • C#

  • Swing

  • Oracle

  • Web (HTML, CSS, Javascript, Web MVC frameworks)

  • Microsoft Windows

  • Sun Solaris

  • Linux

  • iOS

  • Design and maintain applications leveraging Java and RDBMS in a distributed multi-tier and service oriented environment

  • Work on a development team which may include subject matter experts, project stakeholders, and/or executive leadership

  • Conduct code reviews

  • Work with systems administrators to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve production issues

  • Communicate to all levels of the organization regarding project development status, issues and production problems

  • Participate in evolving the Agile/Scrum based SDLC, ensuring that the SDLC meets the needs of the Development Team as well as fitting within the larger organizational processes, personnel and culture

  • Ensure development deliverables are adequately tested

  • Partner with the Quality Assurance Team and subject matter experts to ensure that testing is complete and that ongoing testing is addressed through various levels of automated testing

  • Attend and participate in development meetings

  • Stays current with new technology developments and techniques

 

Your Background

 

  • College degree in Information Systems or comparable experience

  • 2+ years academic or work experience in Java software development

  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies (Scrum), preferred

  • Ability to work in Windows, OS X, and UNIX/Linux environments

  • Object oriented design and development experience

  • Ability to collaborate with developers and product owners in developing new software applications and enhancements

  • Ability to work with the team to define test cases, metrics, and resolution guidelines

  • Ability to identify underlying causes of business issues and recommend appropriate corrective action or problem resolution

  • Proactively seek to accomplish projects and other business related initiatives by leveraging I.S. resources

  • Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs

  • Knowledge of industry business and passion for following trends in the industry
